The 5400 System consists of one 5400 analyzer with up to twenty-four 3265B DC Bias Units (25 A each), achieving a maximum of 600A DC bias. Its modular architecture allows users to scale current output according to their testing requirements—

for example:

8 units = 200 A

12 units = 300 A

16 units = 400 A

20 units = 500 A

24 units = 600 A
 

The 5400 features a special high-current design that enables many 3265B units to be stacked safely and efficiently to supply extremely high DC current levels. As advanced charging technologies—such as rapid EV charging systems—continue to demand higher current to reduce charging time and extend driving range, the 5400 becomes an essential tool for exploring feasible technologies and validating next-generation high-current solutions.
 

A high-current DC bias system is also essential for evaluating advanced inductors and high-power magnetic components. A key measurement for inductors is the saturation current (I_Sat). As the applied current increases, an inductor’s inductance remains stable until it reaches a point where the inductance drops sharply. The current level that causes this sudden drop is defined as the saturation current.
 

With Multi-Bias Mode, users can define multiple DC bias levels (e.g., 10, 50, 75, 100, 300, 450, 600 A) and capture the inductor’s response across all bias points in a single trigger, significantly improving testing speed and efficiency.
