Electric vehicles and AI data centers are pushing power systems harder than ever before. Traction inverters, fast-charging converters, and high-current magnetic components now operate at hundreds of amps—far beyond what traditional test equipment can replicate. To design these next-generation systems with confidence, engineers must validate inductors under the same extreme conditions they experience in real operation.
In an EV, traction-inverter inductors endure rapid current spikes during acceleration and regenerative braking, while fast-charging DC/DC converter inductors carry massive continuous current to deliver stable, precisely controlled power to the battery. If these parts are not tested at true 300–600 A levels, saturation, thermal drift, and efficiency loss can remain hidden until the system is deployed.
Data centers face similar demands. Modern GPU clusters and power-delivery networks draw enormous, steady current through busbars, VRM magnetics, and high-current filter chokes. Only high-bias testing can reveal how these components behave under the sustained electrical load seen in AI and high-density compute environments.
Wayne Kerr’s new 600 A DC Bias Test System changes what’s possible. As the world’s highest-current continuous bias solution, it enables engineers to test large-current inductors, chokes, and magnetics under genuine application-level stress. By exposing real saturation points, thermal stability, and performance behavior that only appear at extreme current levels, the system delivers unmatched accuracy and long-duration reliability testing for EV powertrains, ultra-fast charging stations, and next-generation data-center infrastructure.
